What is the ideal time that a new kitten should stay with their mommy? The best experience for a new born kitten is to stay with mommy for 10-16 weeks. The regime is personalized for every kitten, based on size, age, and maturity of the kitten as well as mommy cat's readiness. Rest assured, we work carefully with new kitten parents to communicate and choose the best time for pick up.

Do I need to provide a deposit to reserve the kitten I like? There are many families looking for the perfect pet for their home. When a family shows interest in one of our Love Paws, we take it very seriously. We often ask some simple questions to gauge if our kittens would be a great fit for your family. If we see a match, then we ask for a $300-$500 deposit depending on the kitten you have chosen. If you choose to not place a deposit, we will keep your family in mind; however, if another family does show their sincere commitment by providing a deposit, then we will honour that reservation.

Do you keep a waiting list for your nursery is expecting a litter.Yes, in fact, we do. We find that in order to find suitable homes for our kittens, we need time to speak to several families. Typically we will announce a projected date for a litter on this website and on social media. You will be able to see several photos of the expectant Queen and Stud so you can decide if your family is interested. We then begin a waiting list for interested families. Around 2-3 weeks after birth, we will share some photos and details about the new kittens. We will also reach out to families on the waiting list to discuss their preferences. More often than not, families on the waiting list end up placing a deposit for the kitten of their choice.

Will you give me some tips on introducing my kitten to my home and other pets?Absolutely, we have plentiful experience with rehoming and socialization. Firstly, we make sure that kittens are carefully socialized to be comfortable around people, kids, other pets and environments. They will be comfortable with household sounds and experiences. Also, we will train your new kitten to use a scratch post and not your furniture! Cats have scent glands in their paws, the reason they scratch items is to leave their scent there, almost like "this is mine". We recommend you provide your new kitten with a scratch post or other scratch product, show them how to use it, so they can leave their scent and only scratch there. If you need some tips on successful rehoming, we will give you some recommendations based on your situation. We, just like new kitten parents, also want the kitten's rehoming experience to be comfortable, and lead to a healthy life in their new home.

Will you give me recommendations for food, litter and toys?We would be happy to share the names of the products we used for our kittens. We can show you the food they have been eating, as well as the litter they have been using. Generally kittens are pretty adaptable to a variety of food and litter products, so ultimately you will choose what is best for your kitty. In terms of toys, we will include some toys that your kitten has been playing with (new), and a new blanket that has been introduced to the nursery a week before pick-up, so your kitten has a familiar scent to take to their new home. Check out our recommendations page here.

Will I have a chance to meet the kitten I am interested in before putting down a deposit? We are always happy to meet potential kitten mommies and daddies. It will give you a chance to see your kitten in his/her environment and decide if he/she is right for you before making a financial commitment. We will answer any questions you may have and explain the rehoming process in great detail, so you know what to expect every step of the way. We'll share the potential contract with you and again go into as much detail as you wish. Our goal is to make the process engaging and enjoyable.

Are you open to selling kittens for breeding? This is a common question we get. Our intent here at Love Paws is to find a forever home for our kittens. We are very careful not to place our kittens into a kitten mill situation. We explicitedly indicate in our contract that your intention should be to give our kittens a home as a pet. The most comfortable and healthy scenario for pet kittens is to be neutered or spayed when they reach sexual maturity. It offers them peace and a positive affinity with their environment. When kittens are not fixed, and they reach sexual maturity, they will begin to feel out of place and their personality will typically change. Females will go through frustrating cycles of yearning for a male, and males will feel a consistent urge to find a female to impregnate. It is quite unsettling for most kittens. So if your intention is to use our kittens for breeding, we may not be a good match.
